Celebrating Singing – Annascaul Village June 3rd – 5th

As the summer kicks in the Annascaul Singing Club is spreading its wings a wee bit. Over the Whit Bank Holiday, 3rd – 5th June, the club will host a gathering, ‘Celebrating Singing’, to mark its first birthday.
With the help of Kerry County Council’s Arts Office and kind support from the wider community of the peninsula there will be series of free workshops and singing sessions taking place in Annascaul Village throughout that weekend.At 10am-12noon on Saturday 4th June at Scoil Bhreac Chluain, Annascaul village, Laine Henderson, formerly lead singer of Riverdance’ will coach folk who bring a song they would like to sing and help them with singing style.Then from 3pm-5pm guitarist Pat Johnson known for his stylish playing while with reggae combo ‘Avatar’ will give guidance on how to use the instrument effectively. Supportive advice on accompaniment will also be on offer.
Sunday 5th June from 12noon- 2pm will see Niamh-Varian-Barry who worked with folk stars ‘Solas’ will focus on helping to develop performance technique and simple harmonies

The classes are for adults of all abilities including beginners and are absolutely free.

At the Annascaul Community Hall also on Sunday, amazing children’s entertainer Ruti Lachs will have the children singing, dancing, and most importantly laughing. Big-hearted Ruti will lead a session for babies to 6year olds from 2pm-3pm and and then 7-12 year olds from 3.30 to 4.30pm. Once again these are free. Though the classes are free the club asks people to book in advance. There are fifteen places available on the voice and performance classes, twenty places for the guitar workshop and thirty places at the children’s event.

Quiz Night in aid of Annascaul Singing Club

Roll up for a night of questions, fun and few songs in aid of Annascaul Singing Club special June gathering on June Bank Holiday weekend. Voice and guitar classes, evening singing sessions, childrens’ entertainment and other free attractions to be announced
Entry fee – a fiver a head.

We welcome kind donations for the evening’s grand prize draw. If you drop them off at Patcheen’s Pub or Hanafin’s Bar they will be happily and gratefully received.
